Flood Restoration

Contractors from our insurance company have been very busy putting the building back together.

There have been some questions about who is paying for this. The MCSS/Calvary insurance is responsible for the building while the EPSB insurance is responsible for the school contents.

A new subfloor was installed in the gym and the new maple is acclimatizing in the gym right now. It smells so good in there! Once the temperature and humidity levels are right, they will start installing the hardwood. We are currently on track to have the gym ready for use in early December.

The lockers have been reinstalled in the main hallway and it’s starting to look like a school again (instead of a construction zone).

The bottom two feet of the Gyproc and insulation was removed throughout the main floor to ensure no mould develops. They then took the bottom plates and studs out and replaced them and put the insulation and Gyproc back on.

We are currently anticipating that the school classrooms will be ready for use when the students return from Christmas break. In the meantime, we are making even better use of existing school spaces and also have classes happening in the church building.

Updated October, 2025

As shown in the photos below, our high school building and the church offices experienced a flood. The main water line entering the building burst and water spread through the entire main floor including Rooms 400 and 410, the computer lab, gym, and church offices.

When the gym floor was removed, we discovered the original concrete floor with all the lines painted on it.  The gym floor will be replaced as soon as possible so usage will not be delayed more than necessary.

Plans are being put in place to use other locations in the church and school campus to ensure that all students have safe and functional learning spaces when they return to classes.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during the renovations.
